First off, I want to say that this is not an instant process and it will take some time for you to see results, but if you do what I tell you and stick to it, you will see results.
I am going to assume that you already have some knowledge of SEO and you understand keyword research. If you don’t I suggest you research deeper in to those subjects before continuing on.
The very first thing you will want to do is figure out what keyword you want your site to rank for. If you are just starting out it is a very good idea to target lower competition keyword, with less than 50,000 competing pages, because they will be much easier for you to get your website to rank for.
After you figure out what long tail keyword you want to target you then need to create the page you want to have ranked in the SERP’s. When creating this page be sure to include your target keywords in the title and H1 tags of the page as well as have them throughout your body text. You do not however want to keyword stuff your pages, keep the keyword density to 2% and 5%.
Third, you want to write an article that complements the content you just created on your site, it should be around 300 to 500 words. It can be about anything you want as long as it is related in some way to the page you are trying to get ranked.
As soon as you finish the article, rewrite it twice. This is called article spinning and is not a required step but is highly recommended that you do it. Just go through your article and rewrite each paragraph so that they still say the same thing but in slightly different words. By doing this you can put together hundreds of unique version of your article to submit to the web.
Fifth, it now time to create the part of the article that will get you traffic and help your site to start ranking better, the authors resource box. Most article directories allow 2-3 outgoing links in the resource box, the key here is to link to the pages you want to rank better using the pages target keyword as the anchor text. You should use multiple variations of the keywords so your links look natural to the search engines, as long as the phrase you are linking contains your keywords you should be fine, in fact it is a good idea to thrown in a few “click here” and “your domain” as well, raising its importance and position in the SERP’s.
Finally, you want to get your article with the links pointing back to your site on as many places on the web as possible. That means start submitting you article to article directories, create a Squidoo lens and Hubpage, contact other webmasters and see if they would like content on their sites and have them post a unique version of your article. The point is to get as many links back to your site with your keywords anchor text telling the search engine’s what to rank your site for and how important it is.
One last clarification, the reason you want to spin you articles is so that you can avoid Google’s duplicate content filters, where if multiple duplicate pages are found, Google will only count one. All the links from the other pages will either be discounted or not counted at all and all your efforts will have been for nothing. A quick tip for spinning is to create 25+ variations of your titles, I have found that the more titles I create the more backlinks I see count in the search engines.
